“The weight of the world is love. Under the burden of solitude, under the burden of dissatisfaction the weight, the weight we carry is love.” — Allen Ginsberg

Stephane C. is engaged in the haunting gesture that is photography. His goal is to extract the veil of uncertainty from things. As if the sum of appearances would show of the world only a fragmented and vague vision. Forever vibrant, alive. While these images do not reveal another world, (it is definitely ours) the photographer attempts to bring its wounds and wrenches out in the open with touching sincerity. An extreme attempt to match, from a photographic point of view, real life with its double. As if hoping to turn day into night.
“My photography is based on the idea that reality is an ambivalent structure, a mental frontier between things. An undefined border separating concrete and elusive fields, materiality and the invisible. It’s also a way to describe in a poetical way, our soul’s inner struggle between peace and animality, between light and darkness.”

“Love is all a matter of timing. It’s no good meeting the right person too soon or too late. If I’d live in another time or place, my story might have had a very different ending…”

Wong Kar-wai (2046)

Where am I when I’m not in reality or in my imagination? Here’s my new pact to the world: it must be sunny at night and snowy at August. Great things end, small things endure. Society must become united again instead of so disjointed. Just look at nature and you’ll see that life is simple. We must go back to where we were to the point where you took the wrong turn. We must go back to the main foundations of life without dirtying the water. What kind of world is this if a madman tells you must be ashamed of yourselves? Music now!

Andrei Tarkovsky (Nostalghia)
